The Crook County Parks and Recreation District Board of Directors will be appointing additional committee members to the Pool Advisory Committee. These members are charged with advising the Board on what they believe are the best alternatives for addressing the need for an indoor pool facility in Prineville. This committee was initially established in May of 2017 with nine members and the Board desires to increase that number to twelve. These individuals from the community are representing various interests and demographics with a desire to accurately reflect the opinions and priorities of the people of Crook County. The members of this committee will be responsible for evaluating existing information as well as new information that will be obtained from surveys and community outreach endeavors. The specific purpose of this committee is threefold: 1) determine if the citizens of Crook County are willing to build an indoor pool facility. 2) Determine the threshold of cost per thousand of assessed value the taxpayer is willing to assume to build and possibly operate a new indoor pool. 3) If it is determined that there is positive path forward, the committee will assist in determining the size, features, and final design for the facility. The Pool Advisory Committee will have full support of the District staff as well as the support of a professional third-party facilitator contracted and paid for by CCPRD. If interested in being on the committee, download and fill out application, return to Crook County Parks & Recreation District office at 296 S Main St, Prineville, by February 12, 2018.
